Exercise of the Week-Drop Lunges
by Carson Boddicker on Apr 15th, 2010
This is a great tool to improve hip mobility and also a good mobilization in the transverse plane at the ankle. There are a few places within a session that this could fit, but I primarily use it within the dynamic mobility section of our training sessions. In the coming weeks I may post the video of a certain fitness professional turning this into a dance move, as well. Best regards, Carson Boddicker...Read More » Tags

Random Friday Thoughts
by Carson Boddicker on Apr 2nd, 2010
There has been a lot going on this week at Boddicker Performance and I have been learned a great deal of good information that I plan to share in the coming weeks. Today, I want to share with you some of the things that are on my mind that I hope you will find thought inspiring or curious. 1. I have been, over the past several months, collecting data on hop and stop tests in runners. For those who don't know, the hop and stop test was ...Read More » Tags

Dedicated Dorsiflexion Training
by Carson Boddicker on Mar 29th, 2010
While it's not an exercise with direct specificity to running or any sport in general (and while a host of factors will affect the type of stress the lower leg has to endure), what's your general take on a bit of direct dorsiflexion work with something like a D.A.R.D.? Great question, and I am going to include a small discussion of the use of focused dorsiflexion in a coming post with relation to some of my transition to barefoot running. I d...Read More » Tags

Ankle Mobility Drills
by Carson Boddicker on Dec 8th, 2009
I've recently had several discussions regarding the ankle mobilization in my Alleviating Ailing Ankles article that uses a posterio-anterior force on the tibia. One major topic that arises is Bill Hartman's use of a lifting strap to apply a posterior force on the fibula and mine is seemingly opposite... So what's the deal? What's "best"? Honestly, they are complementary, and, by virtue, there is no "best" option. Bill's technique i...Read More » Tags

The night from hell…
by Carson Boddicker on Nov 6th, 2009
Hello guys, Short one this morning as I've had next to no sleep on account of a pretty rough sore throat, fever, and some coughing. I once joked back in May with a microbiologist that the world is ripe for a plague. Retrospectively, I should have kept my mouth shut. Karma bites from time to time. On the upside, I did have my ankle mobility article go up today at EliteFTS.com. If you missed it last week, definitely go to EliteFTS and che...Read More » Tags

New Article: Ankle Mobility
by Carson Boddicker on Oct 29th, 2009
I had a new article posted this week on StrengthCoach.com covering the importance of ankle mobility and a few new tips, tricks, and exercises to help improve ankle function and performance. Check it out! Anyone that has worked with field and court sport athletes has undoubtedly dealt with his fair share of athletes with ankle injuries. The ankle is the most frequently injured joint in sport accounting for one-third of all injuries. As the West...Read More » Tags
